He served as an armor and counterintelligence officer and then went on to a career as an airline pilot and senior executive. Bushy is a graduate of Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Maine. He earned his M.S. from the University of New Haven in West Haven, Connecticut and attended the Gestalt International Study Center in Cape Cod, Massachusetts.
