He survived the Great Depression. Served in the United States Army During World War II. After the war, worked in the United States Postal Service and attended Brooklyn College at night. A slipped disc in his back ended his college career. Thirty years later he retired from the Postal Service and then attended Cerritos College where he received an AA degree in the Humanities. His final goal was to attend a university and obtain a degree in English but poor health prevented him from achieving that goal. The author was married for 52 years and had one son.
