Carolina. I attended
Santee Elementary and Lincoln High
School then graduated from Lincoln
High School on May 28, 1968 and
then moved to Brooklyn, New York,
right after. Then fourteen years later, I
married my childhood sweetheart Larry
D. Geathers. The two of us attended the
same high school. The loss of Larry
brought me closer to my writing. I had
needed the inner strength that had been
locked up inside of me. My parents had
created this mold of me that, in this
life or any other lifetime, could not be
created again. My fi rst book, The Hopes
and Dreams for Many Tomorrow, has
inspired me to continue on. Through
love, loss, deaths, and illnesses, these
poems have captured my ability to
create a little joy, peace of mind, and
excitement. The heart has proven once
again that it could withstand the entire
