He was raised in East Atlanta Georgia, and went to Sky Haven Elementary School and later McNair High School. He dropped out of school in 11th grade, but later earned his GED and diplomas in both heating and air conditioning and commercial refrigeration from DeKalb Technical College. He continues to work in commercial refrigeration while he pursues his career as an author.
