Previously, he served as a youth minister for four years in a large urban church. He holds a B.Sc. in Civil Engineering from the University of Alberta, and a Master of Divinity degree in theology from Harding School of Theology. He presently serves as a bivocational minister for a small small-town church in southwest Montana. David has been married to Kris for twenty-five years; they have two daughters, Eden and Jessie, who are both university students. David enjoys hiking and hunting the wild open spaces of Montana.
