As a college graduate and product engineer in the building products industry, he pays attention to details, which is required by his profession, and this can be seen within his research and writing efforts. He first became interested in the Battle of Gettysburg as a young man when he visited the battlefield for the first time in 1977. His passion for the battle was cemented a few years later after reading Professor Edwin Coddington’s work for the first time. He has visited the hallowed ground in Pennsylvanian many times since.
