He is the oldest of six children born to the late Simmie and Jewell Varnadoe. He has completed two other books, his autobiography and his ancestral history. He and Peggy, his wife of 44 years, make their home in Griffin, Georgia. They are the proud parents of two children and four grandchildren. He is retired from Civil Service, the Army Reserves and Southern States in Hampton, Georgia. James is a born again Christian and enjoys travel, writing, and spending time with family and friends.
