Upon graduating from Boston College, Rick served three years as a naval officer, obtained a Master of Science degree in Public Health, and became a Commissioned Officer with the U.S. Public Health Service where he worked in international communicable disease control, specializing in developing computer-based training programs in tropical medicine.
