He has often faced skepticism from both his church friends and his working colleagues that he could sincerely believe in both his work and his religion. Carefully examining their arguments, he found them almost always based on emotion, and rarely on reason. He finds such emotions deeply ingrained in or society. They interfere in our political process, and degrade our educational system.
Bob was raised a Methodist in a formerly Mennonite family. He attended a Lutheran college, was married by a Baptist minister and assisted a Baptist missionary. In later life he has been a Presbyterian, and is an ordained elder in that church. He has served on the Advisory Board of the Salvation Army, and as Governor of a Kiwanis District. He now attends Catholic mass once or twice a month, and has worshipped God (the same God everywhere) in synagogues, mosques, and Buddhist temples.
Bob has academic credits from twenty-three colleges and universities, and has taught courses in four of them. His degree in geophysical sciences is from the University of Alaska. He has pursued advanced studies in a variety of sciences at the U S Navy Postgraduate School, the University of Chicago, and the University of Michigan.
A World War II veteran, Bob was ninety-one years old when he started working on this book. He is now crippled, deaf, and legally blind, but he is working on another book.lihat lebih sedikit
