On assigment in the United States Embassy in Ventiane, Laos, as one of the first thirteen Air Force officers there, he helped prepare the arrival of the F-111 in Southeast Asia. Later he flew the F-111 at Upper Heyford Royal Air Force Base in England and worked at the American Embassy in London. He concluded his Air Force Service with air-to-air missile testing at the Tactical Air Warfare Center at Nellis Air Force Base in Nevada.
