She worked as a reporter and columnist for several Texas newspapers. She was an associate editor and a columnist for the Texas Star magazine, a Sunday supplement which ran in twenty-six leading Texas newspapers.
She is the author of four books published by E.P. Dutton. The Texas Institute of Letters named her fourth book, Ten Cousins, Best Children’s Book by a Texas author for the year it was published.
