Thomas S. Gough grew up in the suburbs of Manchester. He has a BA in Modern Languages from Durham University, with a focus on Chinese, Russian and French language, literature and culture. He has a BA in Modern Languages from Durham University, with a focus on Chinese, Russian and French language, literature and culture. In 2019, he graduated from the University of Oxford with an MSc in Contemporary Chinese Studies, where his research focused on East Asian sexuality, gender and post-colonial migration patterns between China, Japan, Taiwan and South Korea. He speaks fluent Mandarin and has an intermediate command of French and Russian. Thomas currently works in Forensic Investigations and Intelligence in London and is learning Cantonese in his spare time. Dreamer in the North is his first novel.
