He grew up there and in Karnes County, south Texas. He has a B.S. degree in Wildlife Management from Texas A&M University and an M.S. degree in Wildlife Ecology from the University of Arizona. Bob is retired after working thirty-three years in the field of wildlife biology and management with the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department and the Arizona Game and Fish Department. He is the author of numerous popular essays, a number of which appeared in his first book Hunting and Gathering. He has received awards from sporting and professional organizations for outstanding contributions to the management of wildlife resources.
