He has won a Justice Media Award, two RTS awards and was named NI Broadcaster of the Year in 2002. In 2017, with Barry McCaffrey, he produced the ground-breaking documentary No Stone Unturned, about the 1994 murder by UVF gunmen of six Catholics in Loughinisland, County Down.
