He served on the national board of the Society of Professional Journalists and was chair of both the California First Amendment Coalition and the California Society of Newspaper Editors. He was twice personally nominated for a Pulitzer Prize. At The Times, Rawitch started and oversaw the Valley and Ventura editions of the paper and started METPRO, the Minority Editorial Training Program, which has brought about 400 journalists of color into The Times and the newspaper industry. He is married for 54 years to Cynthia Rawitch, retired vice provost of California State University, Northridge, and has three children and six grandchildren.lihat lebih sedikit
