I started to work on the Kingdoms and Empires in 2000 during my high school years. I wanted to experiment with genre meshing. Then I got the idea to combine my two favorite stories together into one. The Little Mermaid by Hans Christian Andersen, and The Hunt for the Red October by Tom Clancy. It was these two stories that started the spark that would eventually evolve into Kingdoms and Empires.
