He grew up fascinated by the power of electricity and by the 4th grade had started putting together crystal radio kits. Since then he has made a myriad of other electronic devices, some just for fun, others with a functional purpose. He attended the University of Texas at Austin, graduating with a B. S. degree in Electrical Engineering, and was elected to membership in both Tau Beta Pi and Eta Kappa Nu engineering honor societies. He worked for IBM for 34 years, much of that as a Registered Professional Engineer, and is now retired. Kent has also enjoyed woodworking and sharing his Christian faith through stained glass windows he designed and created, marketing them through his business Creative Light Filtering Company.
