He spent his early years in South Africa and then moved to north of England where he finished his senior school education at a public school gaining 3 A levels in maths, physics and chemistry. He then moved back to south Africa and obtained a B.Sc. at the University of Natal majoring in maths and physics. He worked at several schools and companies in Johannesburg before moving to New Zealand. After spending 3 years in Christchurch he went to Australia and taught there for many years before becoming and author and self- publisher of more than 40 mathematics books.
