He has served as Director of Communications for the Archbishop of York and subsequently for the National Church Institutions of the Church of England. Arun has written widely for national and regional papers including The Guardian, The Times, The Independent, the Yorkshire Post, the Birmingham Post and the Northern Echo where he was a columnist.
