My sibling and I was raised by our single mother. My mother loved and cared for us. She was also hard working. Growing up I was touched inappropriately and molested. As I became older and a mother, I started to look for love in all the wrong places. This was due to lack of self-love and self-worth. I began to understand that no one would love me if I couldn’t love myself first. I needed to set goals and boundaries. I needed to say no, let go and move on. Today, I love myself more than ever. This is due to my prayers and faith. It is important to find our individual strength, purpose and journey. The destination and path to get there may be different for each of us and that is okay.
