She received two undergraduate degrees from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and a Juris Doctor from Loyola University New Orleans College of Law. She practices employment law and is an adjunct professor of law at Tulane Law School. Alexandra has always had a love of literature and dreamed of writing children's picture books. Rise and Shine, It's Mardi Gras Time! is her debut picture book. Chiara Civati is a freelance children's illustrator based in Lake Como, Italy. She studied fashion and textile design as well as visual design and illustration.
